About Me

Being outside, alone in nature brings a certain contentment and peace of mind that I can't find anywhere else. All week long, we're caught up in work, traffic, and the hassles of everyday life. The great outdoors is my means of escape.

I moved to Colorado this summer because of my love of the mountains. What better place to enjoy mother nature?! My ultimate day off of work involves getting up with (or before) the sun, off-roading to a remote mountain area and ascending a peak as the world wakes up! No crowds, no cell phones- just peace and quiet.

2 years ago, my boyfriend and I took up adventure racing- which encaptures all my favorite outdoor activities in one competitive, exhausting, 12 hour span (we have yet to do a 24 hour one)! I love orienteering, trail running, kayaking, rock climbing and repelling, canoeing, and mountain biking- most of which are covered in a single race.

The last piece of gear I bought?! I'm kind-of a "gear head", so to speak. I can spend hours (and entire paychecks) at local outdoor shops, which is kind of a problem of mine! This past weekend, I tried to keep the damage low- new Outdoor Research mittens (for hitting the slopes), a couple of new pairs of smartwools, and an Arbor longboard skateboard (impulse buy, and I was doing SO well with my spending before I saw it)!

Great pictures they remind me so much of home with the Lochs and mountains, trees and greenary. Here in Antarctica white and blue are the main colours and something else I miss is the smell of grass and pine trees.
Hi jenn, welcome to te site! How does one just 'take up' adventure racing? Did a friend get you into it, or did you just dive right in on your own?
