Mouth of the Beast: Polar Bear Cam

created at: 2011/11/08

Ever want to get up close and personal with the world's largest land predator without actually getting mauled and eaten alive? The Polar Bear cam is just the ticket.

While you can certainly find videos of polar bears on YouTube, the Polar Bear cam, brought to us by Explore.org and several other organizations, provides the rare opportunity to peep on live action footage of these terrifying but beautiful beasts. A "tundra buggy" is stationed in the Manitoba tundra with a camera, taking live footage of the bears and other wildlife.

Obviously enough, best viewing times are in the daylight hours between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. central--so spend a little work time trying to catch a glimpse.

If you're impatient, take a look at the highlights.
