Tiny, Ultralight Esbit Stove Not Much Bigger Than a Credit Card

created at: 2011/08/08

While at Outdoor Retailer, I came across a stove perfect for emergency back-ups or hard-nosed ultralight applications. Its the improved Esbit Emergency Stove, which starts shipping this month. The stove folds completely flat and isn't much thicker than a credit card. Each of the sides fold up to hold your cooking cup in place over the solid Esbit fuel cube. The NATO-approved stove weighs a mere 2.4 ounces, and at 3.6" x 4.6" x virtually nothing, it is sure to slide into even the tightest backpack pocket. It costs 5 bucks and comes with three 14-gram fuel cubes. The rep I spoke to estimated you'll get about 30 uses before the pliable steel starts to wear out.
