Steripen, which has been racking up awards for UV light purifiers like the AdventurerOpti, has launched a bigger, badder model. Actually, it's a smaller, friendlier model.
The Freedom is the company's smallest and lightest UV purifier to date and is also its first rechargable model. Given the explosion of portable solar and crank chargers over the past few years, Freedom should be able to ensure that you always have access to clean water, no matter how long your journey.
The model measure 5.1 inches, weighs just 2.6 ounces and takes care of over 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and protozoa such as giardia and cryptosporidium in 16 ounces of water in under a minute. Its battery recharges via micro-USB.
The Freedom will hit the market this fall for a retail price of $120. I hope to get a little more info at Outdoor Retailer.
