You know, I never really liked Arc'teryx much. Its PR/trade-show folks are terrible at their jobs and just come off as aloof and snooty every time I approach them. The pretentious name with the apostrophe in the middle is also pretty snooty. And from my limited experience, their gear is pretty overpriced. I have a long list of brands I'd buy before Arc'teryx.
But my opinion changed last month whe....Oh wait, this is a story about a company that purports to be a serious outdoor company making a fashion line. So my opinion of Arc'teryx is actually lower than ever.
The Veilance line, which was recently featured not in Outside or Backpacker, but Montecristo Magazine, is described as "men's apparel based on aesthetic style, superior quality and performance" (note how performance is #3 on that list). It will soon be available in limited quantities in "selected premium clothing stores" and online.
So, to recap, we have overpriced fashion-wear that you'll be able to buy at Bloomie's. I thought that sounded like the lamest thing ever; then I saw the photo shoot in Montecristo. Thanks for clearing up your brand, Arc'teryx!
