I've been putting together a gear kit for bikepacking and happened across one of the first tents that I've seen designed specifically for bike touring. The Mountain Hardwear Ghisallo 1 is a single-man tent that features a long vestibule designed to keep your bike covered during stormy nights. And if you're biking for weeks, there's bound to be a stormy night or two.You can't see it in the picture, but there's a second dry-entry vestibule for storing other gear.
While the trail weight of 4 lbs. 2 oz. isn't bad, I'd personally opt for a lighter tent/tarp configuration and let my bike get wet or throw it under a tree or bush for protection. But I was psyched to see some niche gear like this.
You can find the Ghisallo 1 at Amazon for $350. Oh, in case you were wondering (I was so I looked it up), La Madonna del Ghisallo is the patron saint of cycling.

I'm just using my regular mountain bike, which is a Kona Dawg Delux. It's not an ideal option because it's on the heavy side (more of an all-mountain than a cross country), but it's what I got.
If you're interested, I just came across this website--bikepacking.net. It's got a number of forums and people describe their set-ups and provide gear reviews--also trip reports, trail descriptions, etc. It's the best source I've found.
What bike are you using for bikepacking?
