Let's face it; there is no one-size-fits tool for adventure. Different trips into the outdoors require different sets of tools. The huge-and-heavy, 85-implement Swiss Army knife may be invaluable to a multi-year, round-the-globe adventure, but it certainly isn't the choice for a fastpacking overnighter.
Ordinarily, the multi-tool market dictates that you buy several different tools for different types of excursions. I myself have a camping multi-tool, which includes a mallet and axe, and several smaller Swiss Army knives for backpacking/back-up. I'd also like to get a separate multi-tool more specifically geared toward emergency/survival. In short, one knife just doesn't cut it when you enjoy different activities.
This new Switch pocket knife delivers a different approach. Instead of separate multi-tools, you can use individual implements to create the ideal tool for a given trip. The knife features a customizable design with two removable sides and three different interior axles to attach the implements to. You can easily take it apart and add/remove tools to your needs on any given day. You can then reconfigure and create an entirely different tool for your next trip.

The Switch offers 18 individual implements, including two Phillips head screwdrivers, two flat heads, a regular blade, a serrated blade, a wood saw, pliers, tweezers, magnifying glass and bottle opener/flat head screwdriver. The three individual bars allow for three sizes: 2 to 6 tools, 4 to 10 tools and 7 to 13 tools. The tool is available for a special pre-order price of $68.
