We've seen a nine-year-old do it, and now 13-year-old Eric Wheeless survived a cold, Idaho night by mentally referencing Bear Grylls and Survivorman (Les Stroud). According to a local paper, Wheeless became separated from his family on a hunting trip. Instead of panicking, he relied on skills that he picked up from our favorite Discovery Channel survivalists and made it through a dank, dark, frigid nine hours on his own. The the extent of the story is that he removed cold, wet socks and huddled in a jacket--not quite as impressive as building a shelter like the aforementioned nine-year old, but effective nonetheless. He was found at 3 a.m. the following morning. [via The Goat]
