Water treatment systems?

I was doing a wild foods foraging progam today and mentioned a water purification straw that I carry with me as part of my basic just-in-case survival gear. Most of the participants had never heard of the straw, which so of led me to the following question. What is your preferred water purification devices/sytems for uses such as backpacking?

Can anyone recommend a comfortable camp chair?

I love those collapsible camp chairs for storage’s sake, but the ones I have are not comfortable. After sitting in them for awhile, I sort of collapse into a ball. I’m looking for alternatives that won’t kill my back. Here are some possibilities. What say you fellow Uncoopers?I spotted REI’s Comfort Recliner Chair that stows like the collapsible ones, but it also reclines. ($59) Spendy ($119) but probably very comfy is their Comfort Lounger. What's your latest change for the good of the environment?

I know it might sound overly simplistic, and it's far from the only lifestyle change I have made or plan to make to lessen my environmental footprint, but my most recent change for the good of the environment is to make sure that I have at least one day each week when I do absolutely no driving. That means no driving on my own and no driving caused by me, such as having a pizza...

Get green or get out?

Just a thought… What kind of environmental impact could we have in a month, if…  1. Each one of us, starting today, got the e-mail addresses of our federal legislators and all the presidential candidates, and then every day send them all an e-mail saying simply “Get green or get out.” (By the way, it will mean more if we are registered to vote. Those guys do have people check on that and it’s factored...
