The ‘This Way’ recumbent concept bike is described by its designer Torkel Döhmers as a ‘comfortable pedal powered bicycle with weather protection.’ Its automotive qualities were entirely intentional, as it is meant ‘to attract non-previous cyclists used to cars and motorcycles.’ Some of This Way’s highlights include:

• Lightweight composite materials and some hydro-formed aluminum.
• Front and rear LED lights, powered by a rechargeable battery, which is in turn powered by roof-mounted solar cells.
• Built-in belt drive and hidden cables within the frame.
• Car-like ergonomics.
• Ease of use controls.
• Rear ‘luggage connector’.
• A ‘hybrid’, pedal/electric motor version will be possible.
