Check these things out: They're called Chariot Skates, and, according to their manufacturer, they '[cross] the boundaries into skiing and cycling'. The skates are outfitted with a large wheel in front and a small one at the rear. The benefits of these types of skates? Again, according to the manufacturer, a user can 'gain and maintain momentum with less effort, greater stability and more [maneuverability]'. They can also be used over a variety of terrain yet, at 5.5 pounds each, they're more portable than a bicycle for commuting. They're scheduled to be available in June, price to be announced. You can read more about them at chariotskates.com. See them in action below. They turn a lot of heads!
