Sugoi's H.O.V. Jacket: Style and Function

created at: 2010/03/02

When I first got Sugoi's H.O.V. (Human Operated Vehicle) Jacket for review, I was hesitant to ride in it. As a part of their contemporary commuter line of performance clothing, it's designed to be ridden in, but the look and fit are so sharp that I didn't want to mess it up. It's got a slim, modern cut that looks great (if I say so myself), but unlike a lot of slim-fitting outerwear, there's no movement restriction-its Mobil Carbon fabric stretches and moves with the wearer for a great range of motion.

Fortunately, the HOV Jacket's quality goes far beyond its visual appeal. Sugoi's awesome attention to detail is evident in every inch of this awesome jacket. Waterproof? Water beads off this jacket like it was covered in wax paper. It breathes really well, too-during a ride in which the weather alternated between sunny and overcast, I stayed warm in the cloudy stretches, yet cool and dry in the sun.

In addition, 3M Scotchlite reflective accents keep riders visible on the road, longer sleeves provide wrist coverage in riding position, and a snap-adjustable hem provides ample coverage. It's particularly useful for bicycle commuters because it functions flawlessly on the bike, but it looks great off the bike as well.

Heck, even if you don't ride, I'd recommend this jacket. It looks sharp as heck, it beats up on the elements, and it's one of the most comfortable peices of outerwear that I own. It goes for about $120, and it's worth every penny. Check it out yourself at Sugoi's website.
