I've always been an active guy-I have a hard time sitting still for very long and sleeping is no different. I roll around, kick, flop onto my stomach, etc.
So imagine how much I enjoy spending nights wrapped up like a miserable burrito in a mummy bag. I've heard that you get used to them, but I've yet to see any abatement to my claustrophobic hell.
This is why I love Lippi’s Selk’bag-it was designed specifically with sleepers like me in mind. With external sleeves for your arms and legs, the Selk’bag makes it possible to roll around, cross your arms, kick one leg out to the side, whatever. Their tag-line is “Sleep like you would in a bed” and they aren’t kidding-it's like footie pajamas for adults.
The current generation of Selk’bag is comprised of a breathable nylon shell with vent zips in the legs and torso for when you get toasty. The good people at Lippi also paid attention to detail: the hands have zippers so that you can access your digits when you need them, the soles of the feet are reinforced so you can walk around the campsite in comfort, and the zips have handy little tabs so you can zip/unzip with your Selk’bag mitts on.
The Selk' Bag 2 (the one I tested) has a comfort rating of 23 degrees fahrenheit (F), so it won't pack enough warmth for extreme cold, but if you're not going to be camping in freezing conditions, you'll be good to go. Amazon's got a pretty sweet deal on the Selk' Bag 1 (comfortable down to 46 degrees F) right about now, offering them for about $75.

Musuc, huh? I'll have to get a hold of them...I've been wanting to check out the new features on the 3G. I was already a fan, but now that you mentioned the quality upgrade, I'm even more curious. Thanks for the info!
I love the 3G. They made big leaps forward in the shell and insulation as well as the overall quality. It is a very nice and versatile product. found out Musuc is the maker of the bag, not Lippi anymore (there was a break up between Lippi and the creator Musuc). Apparently Musuc felt Lippi wasn't doing a good enough job and brought it in-house and the difference shows.
Thanks for the head's up on the new site-I've been wondering about the new series...how do you like the 3G?
Nice review on the Selk'bag. I got mine on Amazon too, but I bought the 3G version. They have a new website where you can get good technical data on the bag, which is pretty well made, especially the new models. Their site is at Selkbagusa.com.
