Okay, as most people now know, slacklining is walking a piece of webbing that is "tied" between two trees in order to strengthen the inner core and practice balance, especially for climbers. Since its origins and purpose, it's become somewhat of a crunchy way to show off to campsite neighbors, girls at the beach, or passersby of a front yard.
Here's a video on a simple, one-person technique.
It is also possible to set up a simple 2:1 ratio if you have a lot of friends who can pull it tight. Once the desired tension has been reached you just have to wrap the slack around the tree and create a "no-knot" to hold the weight of that tension. Mechanical advantage is key however, since webbing stretches and it is easiest when tight. A pig-rig or a z-drag might help if you are alone or with one other person.
As was posted a few days ago, highlining is when this technique is performed at great heights. The safety tether attached to the climber's harness follows them down the slackline via a carabiner (that hopefully slides easily along).
Now, a brand new spin on the sport was recently "invented", combining base jumping with highlining. I'll let the video do the rest of the explaining...

Of COURSE sexy isn't the word you'd use, but I'm a GIRL who likes BOYS! So there.
Ok, sexy is perhaps not the word I would use. But still quite amazing. Especially the segment where he falls off and decides to grab the line instead of parachuting! Um... what if you miss?
Ho-lee sh*t. I actually yelped out loud a couple times during that video. I used to think rock and roll dudes had 'sexy' cornered, but climbers are hot! When he said, 'see ya' and then jumped--I think I actually swooned a bit.
