Bird identification, particularly by song and calls, has never been my strong suit unless I have good resources at hand, like good fieldguides and recordings.

birdJam (that's the way they spell it) takes care of that recording part and in a nice compact format.

The system organizes and formats multiple bird songs, and identification-oriented photos, for 650 North American bird species for the Apple iPod. 

The fast-scroll sorting capability for the system is amazaing, locating the desired song in less than 15 seconds.
