Footwear For the Desert

These UK Gear Patrol PT-03 Desert Shoes, recently reviewed by the Gear Junkie, are designed specifically for desert travels. So if you're wandering around like Chevy Chase in Spies Like Us, searching desperately for a tiny sip of water, at least your feet will be comfortable. The shoes, designed in conjunction with the British Army Training Corps, feature sandproof uppers while employing a rugged midsole tested to withstand extreme heat up to 122 degrees. Taking the shoe from comfortable performance to "I'd rather walk barefoot over 100 miles of hot desert sand than wear those" are optional gaiters that attach with velcro tabs (not helping the cause any). The gaiters are designed to extend the sandproofing to your ankles, all while drastically limiting your dignity and self-worth. If you're a serious desert traveler interested in purchase of the performance footwear, a pair will run you $129. For just an extra $20 and your future pride, you can get the gaiters too.
