A while back, I posted on a hammock-tent designed by Eureka!. The idea was so cool, I knew there must be others out there. Finally, I found one, and it's even better than the Eureka!. Henessy Hammock is an ultralight hammock-tent which features an entry slit on the bottom. To get in, you simply get your head and body through the slit, turn 180 degrees, sit down and pull your feet in. Your weight then snaps the entry closed. I found this much easier than an unstable side entry. You can also lay on top of the tent and use it as a standard hammock. The Hennessy packs down small and mins out under 2 lbs. Several different models are available and range in price from $99 to $219.

I used one of these for 4 months one year traveling throughout Central America. I only slept indoors about a week of the whole trip. Every morning my friends would wake up to scores of new bug bites, while I had rested the night away in bugless comfort. If you go with their lightweight models, the fibers are woven tightly enough that mosquitos can't pierce through.
