About Me

I've been in love with the outdoors for nearly 20 years.  Specifically, I have been mountain biking and snowboarding since '94.  Unfortunately, I grew up in NJ where the outdoors consisted mostly of the woods behind my house or down the road.  A few years ago, I finally pursued my dream and moved out to the Rockies.  I've bounced around CO and UT and never looked back--the opportunity for outdoor sports and incredible mountain scenery has definitely grounded me.

In addition to the aforementioned sports, I'm always looking for new thrills and hope to try snowkiting, extended backpacking treks and whitewater kayaking sometime soon.  One day maybe I'll be independently wealthy and have the time and money necessary to get into all the sweet sports out there.  Until then, I'll keep planning day trips and getting out there whenever possible.

Having a venue to write about it regularly is pretty sweet too.

A Backpack For Every Occasion: Activity-Specific Packs That Hold Odd Gear

Did you ever realize what a lifesaver the backpack is? Think about how many vitals the average wilderness pack transports on a given trip--food, clothing, shelter, hydration. If you need it, the backpack holds it. To a point. If you happen to need something completely oblong, large, heavy or awkward, the average backpack might not be able to help you out. If you're trying to shove 50 lbs. of camera equipment or a few fishing...

127 Hours Trailer: The Aron Ralston Story Goes Big

127 Hours is a film about Aron Ralston, the mountain climber and adventurer who sawed off his own arm after becoming stuck under a boulder in Blue John Canyon in southeast Utah. Not surprisingly, since the incident in 2003, Ralston has been somewhat of an outdoor legend. The film comes out this fall, and the trailer has hit the great wide open of the Web. You can watch below and see what you think. Looks...

Deb, good to hear from you and glad your snowshoes are coming along. I definitely liked the idea and would love to give them a try. Please drop me an email at chris@uncooped.com and we can set it up.

Chris - you wrote a nice blog about my Collapsible Snowshoes after last year's OR Winter Market. I have refined the design and have a short run under production. I'd like to send you a pair to try if you are interested and might consider writing about them again. They should be available in early January. Please let me know if/where I can send you a pair. I am very grateful for your blog and support!
